Could you be our Showgirl or Rural Ambassador for 2023??
GET INVOLVED!
What are the Showgirl & Rural Ambassador Awards?
SHOWGIRL AWARDS
This opportunity celebrates and encourages young, female ambassadors to represent and promote the Yeppoon & district agricultural show movement in 2022 in the annual sub-chamber and state awards!
We are looking for young women who are passionate about regional issues and have a genuine interest to engaging in their communities and with the local agricultural show.
This is a wonderful chance for young ladies to gain confidence through personal development, and exercising leadership skills.
The aim of the Showgirl Competition is to ‘Recognise, Develop and Celebrate Young Female Leaders in our Communities’.
Entrants do not need to be involved in agriculture in order to enter the competition. Previous winners include show competitors, nurses, teachers, accountants and musicians, to name a few.
The competition is not a beauty pageant. (However, there are opportunities to get dressed up!)
Entrants are selected on their character, confidence, ambitions and community awareness (AKA general knowledge and agricultural show knowledge) as well as in presentation and speech.
To be eligible to enter you must be aged between 18 and 28, and living in Yeppoon or surrounding areas. (The statewide competition now invites all young ladies to participate regardless of marital status!)
We would love to hear from you, so feel free to reach out to a past Showgirl or Ambassador if you have any questions.
See you at the Yeppoon Show!
Warm Regards,
Ashleigh Hedges and Amelia Kase
(Past Showgirls)

Rural Ambassador Awards
The Marsh Rural Ambassador Awards is open to males and females, twenty to thirty years of age who have a strong commitment to the rural industries and an involvement and passion for the Agricultural Show movement.
The aim of the Marsh Rural Ambassador Awards is to highlight the importance of young people in rural and regional Queensland, in particular those associated with the Agricultural Show movement. The award identifies those people actively involved in their local Show, who have a sound knowledge of current rural issues affecting their local areas, Queensland and Australia and have a strong affiliation with agriculture.
The award seeks young people who symbolise the rural spirit – people with vitality who are forward-thinking and with a passion for the land and local agricultural shows.
The competition is run on four levels. The local Show winner progresses to a Sub-Chamber final where the winner competes in the State Final held during the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA). The winner of the State Final then competes at the National Final held at a State Royal Show. This is a national competition, but with New Zealand joining us in 2008 it has expanded to international status.
We hope to hear from you so feel free to reach out!
